Thank you for joining us for the Green Snoqualmie Summer of Service! On 9/13/26, from 9 AM-12 PM, join us for a fun volunteer event at the forest at the corner of SE Muir St and Douglas Ave SE in Snoqualmie Ridge! We will be taking care of our natural areas by planting dozens of native plants along the forest edge, where volunteers planted the first round of plants in November 2024.

Successful stewardship of natural areas requires constant maintenance and monitoring of invasive plant species that prevent the regeneration of young trees, shrubs, and forbs. In 2024, here at the Silent Creek Forest, the City of Snoqualmie invested in the removal of the vast majority of the Armenian blackberry. The Lewis' mock orange, snowberry, and Sitka spruce have come in quite well, but there is plenty of space that still needs to be filled in. Let's plant!

Ecologists know that biodiverse ecosystems are the most resilient ecosystems. Before Snoqualmie Ridge, there were little to no drought-adapted and full sun-adapted plants in what is now the forest edge along Douglas Ave SE. In November 2024, a large group of volunteers planted superb sun-loving native plants that will create tree canopy and provide blackberry resistance on the edge. This forest edge is particularly long, so this planting project will bring in more native shrubs, deciduous trees, and some wildflowers!

This is one of the best ways to give back to your local forest and meet like-minded forest advocates. Help us build a healthy habitat and a healthy community!

What to Bring

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves that can get dirty. Avoid sandals!

Dress for the weather: sunscreen/sunglasses if it’s sunny, or rain gear if rain is in the forecast. We will be out there whether there's rain or shine! Masks will be provided in case of wildfire smoke.

A water bottle and snacks

Print and bring a signed Youth Waiver if you are under 18 and without a guardian.

A great attitude :)

Your favorite pair of gloves, if you wish. Tools and gloves are provided!
