There's a mysterious family of fairies living in the Silent Creek Forest, but they never seem to be home...

On Sunday, September 6th, come help remove a patch of ivy just across the trail from a little fairy house along the Silent Creek Trail! As part of the Green Snoqualmie Summer of Service, the City of Snoqualmie Urban Forestry & Stormwater Department is hosting various habitat restoration projects and educational events with the aim of connecting local citizens to the nature around all of us, giving everyone the opportunity to make a difference, and protecting Snoqualmie's forests for centuries to come. YOU are invited! Come back in the fall to plant here with us!

Ivy climbs out of the backyards of unassuming residents, only to climb trees and spread seeds. In the process, trees become weighed down, more susceptible to rot, and likely to fall from the wind catching the ivy like a sail. There have been five known populations of English ivy in the Silent Creek Forest, and thanks to Green Snoqualmie volunteers, that number is now only three. Help us with our goal of complete ivy eradication and munch on some juicy huckleberries in the meantime!

What to Bring

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and long pants that can get dirty. Avoid sandals!

Dress for the weather: sunscreen/sunglasses if it’s sunny, or rain gear if rain is in the forecast. We will be out there whether there's rain or shine! Masks will be provided in case of wildfire smoke.

A water bottle and snacks

Print and bring a signed Youth Waiver if you are under 18 and without a guardian.

A great attitude :)

Your favorite pair of gloves, if you wish. Tools and gloves are provided!

Where to Meet

Meet at the corner of McCullough and Elderberry in Snoqualmie Ridge. At 9 AM, we will begin with a tour of a planting site from 2024. We will then venture down Silent Creek Trail to the fairy house.
