Thank you for joining us for the Green Snoqualmie Summer of Service! Your help ensures that Snoqualmie's forests will be healthy for hundreds of years to come.

Azalea Park and Tanner Jeans Fields are home to a great baseball field, playground, and picnic shelter. At the back of the park, one can find the Deep Creek Trail. On August 15th, from 9 AM-12 PM, we are maintaining our ecological restoration site at the Deep Creek Trail trailhead!

The Deep Creek Trail follows a steep ravine and can either take you to the east or west end of the Preston-Snoqualmie Trail. The west end spits you out in Fall City, and in the winter, the east side gives you a view of the south side of Snoqualmie Falls!

We must continue to steward this site to prevent invasive species at the trailhead from flowing downward into the trail system. Specifically, we are concerned about invasive Armenian blackberry, Robert geranium (stinky Bob), and foxglove. In past restoration projects, volunteers have planted a palette of drought-resistant native shrubs and trees; shore pine, tall Oregon-grape, snowberry, the list goes on. Uncontrolled, blackberry will grow up around these and choke them out, preventing them from reproducing in the future. Down the trail, stinky Bob and foxglove are encroaching into the native wildflowers. Luckily, they will meet their fate at your hands, clad with work gloves and carrying shovels and hand tools!

What to Bring

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves that can get dirty and will protect you from blackberry thorns. Avoid sandals!

Dress for the weather: sunscreen/sunglasses if it’s sunny, or rain gear if rain is in the forecast.

A water bottle and snacks

Print and bring a signed Youth Waiver if you are under 18 and without a guardian.

A great attitude :)

Your favorite pair of gloves, if you wish. Tools and gloves are provided!
