Thank you for joining us for the Green Snoqualmie Summer of Service! On Saturday, August 9th, from 9 AM-12 PM, join us for a volunteer work party at Jeanne Hansen Park!

Thanks to past restorations (including a Green Snoqualmie Day!) at Jeanne Hansen Park, the section we will be working in is largely blackberry-free, but it can only stay that way with a community effort to keep it out. Armenian blackberry is an invasive plant introduced decades ago for its delicious (but quite tart!) berries... the suburban bird species around here LOVE spreading this berry around. If it has enough space and sunlight, Armenian blackberry chokes out young trees and every native plant shorter than six feet tall to the detriment of the rest of the wildlife. Wildlife that enjoys nectar and berries from our native shrubs & wildflowers, those that nest in our magnificent conifers and maples, and those that cannot move through dense, thorny thickets are most impacted. The Ridge's forests are in the early stages of blackberry infestation, so it's our duty to rein it in as much as possible. That's why on Sunday, 8/9/2026 from 9 AM-12 PM, concerned community members like yourself will venture into the woods, equipped with hand tools, gloves, and long pants to fight for the forest, all while chatting it up and enjoying each other's company!

This is one of the best ways to give back to your local forest and meet like-minded forest advocates. Help us build a healthy habitat and a healthy community!

Tools and training are provided, and all ages and abilities are welcome. Pizza will be provided for groups larger than five.

What to Bring

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves that can get dirty and will protect you from blackberry thorns. Avoid sandals!

Dress for the weather: sunscreen/sunglasses if it’s sunny, or rain gear if rain is in the forecast.

A water bottle and snacks

Print and bring a signed Youth Waiver if you are under 18 and without a guardian.

A great attitude :)

Your favorite pair of gloves, if you wish. Tools and gloves are provided!

Where to Meet

From the parking lot, walk southeast towards the pond past the grass field and look for the gate. We will be working on the eastern forest of Jeanne Hansen Community Park.
