Thank you for joining us for the Green Snoqualmie Summer of Service! On Sunday, 7/26/26, from 9 AM-12 PM, we will be digging invasive ivy and blackberry at Riverview Park!

Restoration at the riverwalk began in 2023, including the planting of many shrubs and trees, from thimbleberry and salmonberry to evergreen huckleberry and Lewis' mock orange. As the shrubs have gotten established, English ivy left over from an old property and Armenian blackberry spread by birds have crept onsite. If left unchecked, these plants WILL take over, eventually leaving nothing but a blackberry thicket and a carpet of ivy. The 'locals'--specialist native birds, beetles, bees, hoverflies, ants, etc--are most hurt, as they find little use for these invaders. Ivy and blackberry don't have any organisms that keep their populations in check, except for us humans. Every vine and root ball you dig out will be replaced with a life-supporting native plant!

This is one of the best ways to give back to your local forest and meet like-minded community members. Help us build a healthy habitat and a healthy community!

This event is open to all ages and abilities. Pizza will be ordered for groups larger than five. Training begins at 9:15 AM. Feel free to show up as early as 8 AM and stay as late as 1 PM!

What to Bring

Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves that can get dirty and will protect you from blackberry thorns. Avoid sandals!

Dress for the weather: sunscreen/sunglasses if it’s sunny, or rain gear if rain is in the forecast.

A water bottle and snacks

Print and bring a signed Youth Waiver if you are under 18 and without a guardian.

A great attitude :)

Your favorite pair of gloves, if you wish. Tools and gloves are provided!
