SUMMARY: Event Flicker Creek Ivy Removal Day 3 - Let's Do This!
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:We're looking for volunteers to save the creek at Borden Park, Flicker Creek, and the surrounding forest from invasive plants! Fun fact: Flicker Creek is named after the local northern flickers, a type of woodpecker.

Most invasive plants are opportunistic, taking the opportunity to grow in sunny areas where the soil has been disturbed. The difficult thing about English ivy is that it spreads even in the shadiest, densest forest environments, taking trees down as it goes. One ivy plant puts out dozens of vines in multiple directions, growing roots where it touches the soil. Unlike Seattle's forests, many of which are irreversibly covered with ivy, we still have a chance to entirely take out the ivy growing around Borden Park! The earlier, the better.

Are you able to dig? Are you able to wake up for a 9 AM work party? Then you are the perfect candidate to volunteer with us! We will provide tools, training, and roles for all skill and ability levels. Learn about local ecology and make a difference :)

You're welcome to show up any time, as early as 8 AM, and stay as late as 1 PM!
